FAQs

Water Purification FAQ

1) What is the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of Arsenic?

The current mandate by the EPA is .010 parts per million (ppm) or 10 parts per billion ppb

2) What is a cost effective way to remove Arsenic from drinking water?

The filtration system used in the DG 24-7, Dow’s ADSORBSIA titanium oxide based media, is specifically designed to remove arsenic, both arsenate and arsenite, from a broad range of water conditions.

3) How do I dispose of ADSORBSIA media when it is spent?

When exhausted, it is removed from the vessel and replaced with new media. Spent media from arsenic loading tests have been shown to pass both the TCLP (Toxicity Characteristics Leaching Protocol) and the California WET – Waste Extraction Test, indicating it can meet the criteria for disposal in a landfill as a non-hazardous waste.

4) How does the pH impact the capacity of ADSORBIA media to remove arsenic?

The ability of ADSORBSIA media to remove arsenic from water is affected by the ionic forma of the arsenic, amount of arsenic in the feed water, the pH of the feed water, competing ions/impurities, as well as the engineering design of the equipment.

5) How is the water purified?

The DG 24-7 is manufactured with GE’s Homespring Central Water Purifier. It has been specifically designed to physically block and remove bacteria, viruses and parasites. The Homespring also eliminates cloudiness from drinking water, while allowing for healthy natural minerals pass though. The activated carbon filter removes chlorine to improve taste and odors of municipal drinking water. The system effectively filters all municipal, well and lake water prior at the point-of-entry, purifying the water.

6) Can the DG 24-7 work without electricity?

The DG 24-7 is completely solar powered and can produce 6,500 gallons of water a day. Since the unit is solar powered, it eliminates the need for power infrastructure or gasoline / diesel generators to operate pumps. The DG 24-7’s battery pack will permit the unit to operate for up to five (5) days without direct sunlight.

7) How mobile is the DG 24-7?

The DG 24-7 was designed with mobility for global deployment. Its horizontal design (3X5X6 ft.), fits a 463L pallet. It is air, surface or surface ship deliverable.
